Friday Summary
Maths - The Long Division Family
The class are working hard at long division at the moment. We are using the family of Dad, Mam, Sister, Brother and Rover (the dog) to try and help us remember the steps we need to work out each problem.
English - Under the Hawthorn Tree
We are now over halfway through our novel "Under the Hawthorn Tree" by Marita Conlon-McKenna. This is a powerful insight into life of the O'Driscoll children during the famine. It is informing everyone in the class about the horrible experiences and conditions families had to endure during the period.
Anti-Cyber Bullying
We have been using lovely resources from webwise.ie. These resources focus on raising awareness of cyber bullying and facilitate discussions regarding how we as a class can do all in our power to create and maintain an anti-cyber bullying environment.
Guided Meditation
We are thoroughly enjoying our guided meditation sessions. These periods of mindfulness are well deserved and needed as it allows the boys to escape from each busy school day.
John Ryan - Bible Explorer
The boys enjoyed another fantastic session with John Ryan. John had plenty of props with him that enhanced the fun nature of how he informs the boys of Bible stories.
Project Work
The boys are thriving on working on their projects. The Wild Atlantic Way has been a fantastic first topic and we will be moving onto new topics of research and project work in the coming weeks. We have seen some lovely traditional projects on paper as well as the use of ICT and creative apps such as Canva.
