Friday Summary

24th Feb 2023

Maths

This week we finished our work on long division and started working on data. We have been learning how to find the average of numbers by using concrete materials such as lollipop sticks.

English

We have been studying sea creatures over the course of the week. We researched information relating to creatures like an octopus and the blue whale using websites such as National Geographic Kids. We then wrote reports on these sea creatures.

We have also been learning about pronouns (personal and possessive).

We have also continued with our novel "Under the Hawthorn Tree". We're nearly finished and we're enjoying thoroughly.

Gaeilge

We have been learning about Caitheamh Aimsire. The boys had fun learning all different types of hobbies / past times as Gaeilge. We read the story "An Cluiche Iománaíochta" agus " "Cluiche i bPáirc an Chrócaigh".

SESE

We have delved into the history of monasteries and monks in Ireland. The boys are aware of some monasteries scattered around the country such as St. Kevin's in Glendalough, Clonfert in Co. Galway and Clonmacnoise in Co. Offaly.

PE

On Thursday morning we embarked upon our first journey to Shannon Leisure Centre for our first swimming session. The boys were split up into three groups related to their ability.
